STAESA's Language and Cultural Immersion programme promotes and enhances language studies and intercultural exchange aimed at developing long-term international relations and understanding, and exposing our programme participants to the tourism attractions in Africa.

STAESA organises home stays for groups and individuals who wish to learn and build their French, English, Spanish, German or any of the many wondrous indigenous languages, while being totally immersed in the African culture. Also included in the programme is volunteer work in orphanages, HIV/AIDS homes, and schools - great opportunities to practice your language skills. Take a short break in Africa, be it academic or work related, and enjoy this wonderful experience with us. STAESA's Language and Culture Immersion Programme can be incorporated into other programs or university/college programmes to develop study skills to work and to earn academic credits. Everyone can join the programme, not just students. STAESA welcomes programme participants from all over the world.

Programme Info

The Language and Cultural Immersion programme is available for both volunteers and interns. Interns can earn academic credits and job promotions. This programme can be used as a supplement to another one (for full time volunteers or interns) or taken up on its own.

Every day, Monday to Friday, from 9am to 3pm, you will engage in a 3 hour intensive language lesson and will complete 3 hours volunteer work to put your lessons into practice. During your free time you will visit cultural villages, take part in a cultural tour, witness a local marriage ceremony, have fun drumming and dancing, learn how to prepare local food, and will be under intensive supervision and coordination. If you choose another option to supplement the language programme, you will enjoy all the cultural and lingual characteristics of this programme, but will volunteer at a place determined by your other programme.

Fees

Preferably volunteers should be in a group of two or more, but provisions for individuals can be made. The Language and Cultural Immersion Programme runs from March to December. The fees for the language programme are as follows. Fees are given from 2 weeks to 15 weeks; if you want to plan a longer stay, please contact us for a quote.
